Scratching an itch

For the last two weeks or so I’ve had the urge to buy and older PC, just for the purposes of messing about with the hardware and putting a daft linux config on it. I know that if I buy it, I’ll do that for a couple of hours and then never touch it again, but I still want to do it.

For the last two weeks or so I’ve had the urge to buy and older PC, just for the purposes of messing about with the hardware and putting an overly complex linux config on it. I know that if I buy it, I’ll do that for a couple of hours and then never touch it again, but I still want to do it.

It’s been like that my entire life, and it’s an expensive habit. I’ve counted out about 30 different hobbies I’ve tried - and usually spent money on - without continuing them for any length of time.

It’s very frustrating, but I need something to scratch the itch, preferably without dropping money on expensive, obsolete hardware.
